The Brewers seem stuck in this win one, lose one mode and to make matters worse, the St. Louis Cardinals have gotten hot with four straight wins. The division is still tight (six games separate first and last) but it’s not as tight as it was even mid-week. As it stands, the Brewers sit at 13-13 with one more game to play against the last Brewers this weekend.
The Brewers have quite the trio of hitters these days. Ryan Braun is making an early big for the MVP award with a .367 average, ten home runs and 23 RBIS. Right behind him is Prince Fielder with a .333 average, six home runs and 26 RBIs. Then there’s Rickie Weeks, who’s hitting .304 with six home runs and 21 runs scored. The Brewers are second in baseball with a .275 average but they’re closer to the middle in runs scored with 118.
Shawn Marcum has been the stud pitcher. He’s been quite the pickup with three wins, a 2.21 ERA and 34 strikeouts. Right behind him is Randy Wolf with three wins, a 2.39 ERA and 33 RBIs. Overall, the Brewers have a 3.58 ERA which puts them in the middle of the pack there as well.
Hopefully the Brewers can finish on a winning note here against the Astros because after that they head to Atlanta for a four game series against a tough Braves team. I need to pick up some Brewers tickets here soon. If this team keeps it up, those tickets might be harder to get at going forward.
