Brewers Win Fifth Straight, Extend Lead to 2 1/2 Games

by @ 11:57 pm. Filed under 2011 Brewers

The Brewers made it five straight and in the process and they extended their lead in the National League Central to 2 1/2 games.  Even better, the Pirates and more so the Reds, are slowly slipping out of the race.  This sets up an interesting three game series with the Cardinals that could be a huge difference maker in the division race.  If you want Brewers tickets, get them now because this team is for real.

Newly acquired Francisco Rodriguez picked up the win in the 5-4 victory over the Astros.  Chris Narveson had a solid enough start but the hitters didn’t get it going enough for him to get the win.  He gave up three runs on four hits and three walks with four strikeouts in 6 2/3 innings.  K-Rod gave up a run and the lead in the eighth but John Axford pitched a shutout ninth to close out the game for his 31st save of the season.

Prince Fielder went three for four with a run and an RBI.  Corey Hart also had a nice game with three hits and an RBI.  Ryan Braun had two hits and two runs.
