Despite Back to Back Losses, Brewers In the Drivers Seat

by @ 11:55 pm. Filed under 2011 Brewers

The Brewers magic number is 18.  They have the largest lead then any other team over their second place opponent and they’re going play at least their first round at home where they’re 50-18.  Life is good for Brewers fans and this is exactly what we were hoping when the Brewers shored up their rotation this past offseason.  Now it’s time to figure out how to score those playoff tickets.

Yesterday they dropped their second straight to the Cardinals.  Randy Wolf had a rough start and he gave up six runs in five innings.  Three of the seven hits he gave up were home runs and that didn’t help things a bit.

Jerry Hairston, Jr. went three for four with an RBI in the 8-3 loss.  Ryan Braun went two for four with an RBI.

The Brewers finish up their series with the Cardinals tomorrow.  A win would be nice but even if the Cardinals win, it’s a seven game lead.
