It was their 57th home win and it was important because it gives the Brewers home field in the first round of their playoff series against the Arizona Diamondbacks. This is nice and I have to working on scoring some Brewers playoff tickets. It was looking like the Braves might be their first opponent but their collapse put the Cardinals in the mix. Since we can’t start against our own division, the Diamondbacks it is.
Zach Greinke won his 16th game of the season. He gave up two runs on five hits and a walk with four strikeouts in six innings. Of course pitching Greinke here means he won’t be available until Sunday at the earliest.
Carlos Gomez belted a home run and he drove in three runs. Corey Hart went one for four with his 26th home run. He drove in two runs and scored twice.
The win gives the Brewers 96 wins on the season. That’s a franchise record.
